Pakistan, EU reaffirm commitment to closer engagement amid regional developments

ISLAMABAD, Friday, January 16, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday held a telephone conversation with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, underscoring the growing momentum in Pakistan–EU relations.

DURING THE CALL, BOTH LEADERS WELCOMED THE POSITIVE TRAJECTORY OF BILATERAL TIES AND DISCUSSED PRACTICAL WAYS TO FURTHER DEEPEN COOPERATION ACROSS AREAS OF MUTUAL INTEREST.

The conversation reflected a shared commitment to strengthening political dialogue and enhancing collaboration between Pakistan and the European Union.

The two sides also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, including the evolving situation in Iran. Senator Dar emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and constructive engagement to promote regional stability and address emerging global challenges through diplomacy.

Reaffirming their resolve to maintain close coordination, both leaders agreed to remain in regular contact and continue consultations at the diplomatic level, signaling a mutual interest in advancing Pakistan–EU partnership in line with shared priorities of peace, stability, and cooperation.
