RAWALPINDI, Sunday, April 5, 2026 (WNP): United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan, Mohamed Yahya celebrated Easter with the country’s Christian community, emphasizing the nation’s rich diversity and shared values of hope and renewal.
Speaking from the historic Christ Church, Yahya highlighted that over four million Christians are an integral part of Pakistan’s vibrant social fabric.
“Today, they celebrate Easter—a story of hope, sacrifice, renewal, and new beginnings,” he said.
He described the scene at Christ Church, noting that after weeks of reflection during Lent, silence gives way to song and stillness to celebration.
“Churches are filled with light, with prayer, and with joy shared across generations,” he said.
Yahya underscored that when one community celebrates, all of Pakistan shares in the joy. “In this moment, we are reminded that hope is universal, renewal is shared, and our diversity is our strength,” he added, wishing the Christian community a blessed and joyous Easter.
