BEIJING: China on Monday defended Iran\u2019s leadership transition, saying the process that led to the appointment of the country\u2019s new supreme leader was conducted in accordance with Iran\u2019s constitution and should not be subject to approval or rejection by foreign powers.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly described Iran\u2019s newly chosen leader as \u201cunacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guo said the selection of Iran\u2019s leadership was carried out through the country\u2019s constitutional procedures and emphasized that the issue is an internal matter for Iran.<\/p>\n
