ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, on Thursday, during which both leaders discussed regional peace efforts and bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Meloni appreciated Pakistan\u2019s successful diplomatic efforts in facilitating the U.S.\u2013Iran ceasefire and the resumption of dialogue. She also felicitated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on hosting the forthcoming peace negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.<\/p>\n
Underscoring Pakistan\u2019s \u201cgenuine and sincere desire\u201d for peace and stability in the region, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the joint statement issued by key European and international leaders, including Prime Minister Meloni, endorsing Pakistan\u2019s peace initiatives.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Both leaders also expressed serious concern over the ongoing hostilities in Lebanon and agreed on the need for coordinated international efforts to prevent further escalation. They emphasized that sustained diplomacy was essential to pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n
