WASHINGTON: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Managing Director (Operations) of the World Bank Group Anna Bjerde as he commenced his engagements at the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the finance minister appreciated the World Bank Group\u2019s longstanding support to Pakistan\u2019s reform and development agenda. Both sides discussed the country\u2019s economic outlook, including strategies to manage the first- and second-order impacts of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing the need to protect vulnerable segments of society, the two sides agreed on strengthening social protection measures to cushion the effects of external economic shocks.<\/p>\n

The discussions also reviewed progress under the Country Partnership Framework (CPF), with both sides acknowledging advancements in key priority areas while stressing the importance of sustained efforts to fully achieve the framework\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n

Aurangzeb highlighted the need for a coordinated approach between federal and provincial governments to effectively address Pakistan\u2019s demographic challenges.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In this regard, he sought the World Bank Group\u2019s support for the development of a comprehensive national master plan.<\/p>\n

The meeting underscored continued cooperation between Pakistan and the World Bank Group in advancing economic reforms and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.<\/p>\n
