WASHINGTON, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 (WNP): The United States has indicated that the next round of talks related to Iran is likely to be held in Islamabad, while strongly appreciating Pakistan\u2019s role as a key mediator in the ongoing negotiations.<\/p>\n
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, addressing reporters, dismissed reports suggesting that Washington had formally requested an extension of the ceasefire. \u201cI saw some reporting that we had formally requested an extension of this ceasefire. That is not true. We remain engaged in these negotiations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that the next round of discussions \u201cwill likely be held in Islamabad,\u201d highlighting Pakistan\u2019s growing diplomatic role in facilitating dialogue.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Press Secretary emphasized that Pakistan has been central to the negotiation process, describing its efforts as \u201cincredible.\u201d She said the US deeply values Pakistan\u2019s friendship and its commitment to helping bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Pakistanis have been incredible mediators throughout this process and we really appreciate their friendship and their efforts to bring this deal to a close,\u201d she stated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
