ISLAMABAD, Thursday, June 4, 2026 (WNP):<\/strong> The United States\u00a0Mission\u00a0in Pakistan on Thursday commemorated the 250th anniversary of American independence, marking a historic milestone that celebrates the enduring ideals of freedom, dignity, and self-determination that have inspired people around the world for two and a half centuries.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Independence Day reception, Charg\u00e9\u00a0d’Affaires\u00a0Natalie A. Baker reflected on the profound significance of the Declaration of Independence\u00a0\u2013 and on the remarkable transformation of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship over the past two years.<\/p>\n

CDA\u00a0Baker credited the bold and results-oriented leadership of President Donald Trump with elevating the U.S.-Pakistan relationship to a genuine strategic partnership\u00a0\u2013 one grounded in mutual respect, aligned interests, and a shared vision for security and prosperity.<\/p>\n

She highlighted President Trump’s personal engagement with Pakistani leadership that reflects “a\u00a0testament\u00a0to\u00a0the genuine personal bonds\u00a0that exist\u00a0at the highest levels of our two governments.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CDA\u00a0Baker also paid tribute to Islamabad’s\u00a0serving\u00a0as the venue for the highest-level U.S.-Iran talks since\u00a0the\u00a01979\u00a0revolution, saying, “Pakistan\u00a0\u2013 by having good ties with both Tehran and Washington\u00a0\u2013 was uniquely positioned to bring two adversaries together…\u00a0It was Pakistan’s moment, and Pakistan rose to it.”<\/p>\n

CDA\u00a0Baker spoke warmly of Pakistan’s people and places,\u00a0from attending the revival of Lahore’s legendary Basant kite festival\u00a0after\u00a0nearly two\u00a0decades\u00a0to visiting\u00a0little-known\u00a0communities in\u00a0interior Sindh.<\/p>\n

CDA Baker also celebrated the role of sports as a form of diplomacy, noting Pakistan is at the heart of FIFA World Cup 2026 by manufacturing the footballs that will be used at venues across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.<\/p>\n

She added,\u00a0“When fans around the world watch the beautiful game this summer, they will be watching, in a very real sense, a product of Pakistani craftsmanship and skill.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The celebration highlighted the shared aspirations of the American and Pakistani people and underscored the strength of the bilateral relationship.\u00a0\u00a0A centerpiece of the event were 16\u00a0Liberty Bell\u00a0replicas painted by Pakistani artists and students through the Embassy’s Lincoln Corner network, offering unique interpretations of the meaning of freedom, democracy, and opportunity.<\/p>\n

CDA\u00a0Baker closed with a message of confidence in the future\u00a0of U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relations, saying,\u00a0“As we enter America’s Golden Age, I genuinely believe the most important chapter of the U.S.-Pakistan partnership has only just begun\u00a0\u2013 the best is yet to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
