COX’S BAZAR, Saturday, June 6, 2026 (WNP):<\/strong> Minister of Foreign Affairs of T\u00fcrkiye Hakan Fidan on Saturday reaffirmed Ankara\u2019s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh across all sectors, describing bilateral ties as being built on \u201cextremely solid foundations\u201d rooted in brotherhood and mutual support.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the conclusion of his visit to Bangladesh, the final stop of his Asia-Pacific tour, Fidan said he was received by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and held comprehensive discussions with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman.<\/p>\n

Fidan said Bangladesh had entered a new era following the elections held in February and praised the efforts being made to ensure peace, prosperity and stability for the Bangladeshi people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw that the relations between our countries are rising on extremely solid foundations, in a manner befitting our bonds of brotherhood,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Turkish foreign minister said both countries were determined to expand cooperation in every field and that T\u00fcrkiye would continue to support the people of Bangladesh with the same strong resolve in the years ahead.<\/p>\n

He thanked the Bangladeshi authorities and people for their warm hospitality and extended special appreciation to Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman. Fidan also congratulated his Bangladeshi counterpart on his recent election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, expressing confidence in his ability to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the office.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Fidan also travelled to Cox\u2019s Bazar, where he visited refugee camps hosting Rohingya Muslims displaced from Myanmar.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged Bangladesh\u2019s role in sheltering more than one million Rohingya refugees and stressed the need for a permanent and just solution to the protracted crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur common goal is to find a permanent and just solution to the Rohingya crisis,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While in Cox\u2019s Bazar, Fidan reviewed humanitarian activities being carried out by T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Ministry of Health, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (T\u0130KA), the Turkish Red Crescent, the Turkey Diyanet Foundation and other Turkish institutions.<\/p>\n

He also met Turkish medical personnel serving at the Turkey-Bangladesh Humanitarian Aid Hospital and praised their dedication and humanitarian service under challenging conditions.<\/p>\n

Fidan expressed gratitude to all Turkish personnel working in the refugee response effort, commending their sacrifices and commitment to helping vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n

He said the friendship between T\u00fcrkiye and Bangladesh extended beyond common interests and reflected a bond forged through solidarity during difficult times.<\/p>\n
