ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, May 07, 2025 : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the acting U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss the regional security situation in the wake of India\u2019s recent airstrikes on Pakistani territory.<\/p>\n

The meeting was also attended by U.S. Political Counselor Zack Harkinrider and Pakistan\u2019s Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.<\/p>\n

Minister Naqvi provided a detailed briefing on the consequences of the Indian aggression, expressing Pakistan\u2019s grave concerns about the violation of its sovereignty and the threat it poses to regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndia has jeopardized the peace and stability of South Asia,\u201d Naqvi said. \u201cBy targeting civilians, India has blatantly violated international laws and dismantled regional harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n

He underscored that Pakistan had demonstrated restraint and acted responsibly in the face of provocation. \u201cOur commitment to peace must not be mistaken for weakness,\u201d he warned. \u201cPakistan responded strongly and appropriately in defense of its homeland and will never allow any compromise on its national security.\u201d<\/p>\n

Naqvi further revealed that Pakistan had warned friendly nations about India’s hostile intentions well before the current escalation, calling on the international community to take serious notice of New Delhi\u2019s destabilizing actions.<\/p>\n

The meeting highlights Islamabad\u2019s diplomatic efforts to engage with key allies and maintain transparency as tensions with India continue to mount.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, said the United States was \u201cclosely monitoring\u201d the situation following India\u2019s airstrikes on five locations inside Pakistan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely,\u201d Rubio wrote, echoing U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s earlier call for calm. \u201cI share the President\u2019s hope that this situation is resolved quickly and peacefully, and we will continue to engage with both Indian and Pakistani leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, on April 30, Secretary Rubio held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the call, the prime minister outlined Pakistan\u2019s position on recent developments in South Asia following the Pahalgam incident.<\/p>\n

Sharif described India\u2019s actions as escalatory and provocative, strongly rejecting attempts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam attack. He reiterated Pakistan\u2019s demand for an impartial and transparent investigation to establish the facts.<\/p>\n
