ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, May 07, 2025 : Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Wednesday called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar to discuss the escalating regional situation following India\u2019s recent military aggression against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dar briefed the Chinese envoy on what he described as India\u2019s \u201cunprovoked violation\u201d of Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty, which resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives. He reiterated Pakistan\u2019s unwavering resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity under any circumstances.<\/p>\n

Both sides reviewed the rapidly evolving regional security environment and agreed to maintain close coordination and communication across all relevant domains, reaffirming the strength of Pakistan-China strategic partnership.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. In a press briefing, he described India’s military action as \u201cregrettable\u201d and emphasized China\u2019s commitment to playing a constructive role in de-escalating tensions.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina opposes all forms of terrorism and urges both sides to act with restraint, remain calm, and avoid actions that could further complicate the situation,\u201d Lin said. He added that China\u2019s position remains consistent: differences must be resolved through dialogue and peaceful consultation.<\/p>\n

Responding to questions regarding the safety of Chinese nationals in the region, Lin advised citizens and institutions to remain vigilant, avoid conflict zones, and contact Chinese diplomatic missions in case of emergencies.<\/p>\n

Addressing China’s role in the crisis, Lin reiterated Beijing’s willingness to work with the international community to promote peace and stability in South Asia. \u201cIndia and Pakistan are not only neighbors to each other, but also China\u2019s neighbors. We are following the situation closely and are committed to supporting dialogue and peaceful resolution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson noted that both India and Pakistan have publicly stated they do not seek further escalation. \u201cWe hope both sides will stay calm, act responsibly, and manage their differences constructively,\u201d Lin concluded.<\/p>\n
