ISLAMABAD, Saturday, May 17, 2025 : Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday lauded the armed forces for their \u201coutstanding professionalism and unwavering commitment\u201d in defending the nation against Indian aggression.<\/p>\n
In a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui \u2014 Parliamentary Party Leader in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs \u2014 Nawaz Sharif also commended Parliament\u2019s positive and constructive role in reinforcing national unity during the recent crisis.<\/p>\n
Sharif emphasized the significance of political consensus in times of national security challenges. \u201cThis collective resolve of 240 million Pakistanis serves as a tremendous morale booster for our brave soldiers who are safeguarding the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Expressing gratitude for the country\u2019s successful defense, the three-time premier said, \u201cWe are deeply thankful to Almighty Allah for blessing us with victory in this testing time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sharif also praised the national media for effectively projecting Pakistan\u2019s narrative on the global stage and countering misinformation campaigns by the adversary.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Senator Siddiqui briefed the PML-N chief on the performance of the parliamentary party and its efforts to promote unity and responsible dialogue in the Upper House.<\/p>\n
Speaking in the Senate on Friday, Senator Irfan Ul Haq Siddiqui urged lawmakers to maintain mutual respect and uphold the dignity of Parliament during debates, stressing the need to avoid personal attacks on political leaders.<\/p>\n
\u201cDerogatory remarks against any leader are neither appropriate nor acceptable in this esteemed House,\u201d he said, emphasizing that all political figures \u2014 regardless of party affiliation \u2014 deserve respect.<\/p>\n
Referring to a recent incident, Senator Siddiqui expressed regret if anyone had been offended by remarks made during the previous session. \u201cI offer my sincere apology. I did my part by taking timely action to ensure the debate remained focused and respectful,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the historic sense of unity during the recent conflict, Senator Siddiqui said, \u201cThis solidarity among political forces \u2014 government and opposition alike \u2014 will be remembered as a shining chapter in our national history.\u201d<\/p>\n
He criticized India\u2019s regional approach, saying, \u201cIndia\u2019s history is replete with strained ties with its neighbors, whether it is Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, or Sri Lanka.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reiterating Pakistan\u2019s longstanding demand, he called on India to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into the Pulwama incident, as earlier proposed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet it be clear: India can never turn Pakistan into Gaza. That message has been firmly and unequivocally delivered,\u201d Siddiqui declared.<\/p>\n
He concluded by paying tribute to the nation\u2019s armed forces and the people of Pakistan. \u201cWars are not won by weapons alone \u2014 they are won with spirit, unity, and unshakable resolve.
