We had no choice but to respond in defense of our sovereignty,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister detailed Pakistan\u2019s defensive military action, which included downing six Indian fighter jets\u2014four of them Rafales\u2014and causing substantial damage to Indian military installations. I told him, \u2018We have emerged victorious by Allah\u2019s grace. Now, let us act with wisdom and restraint,\u2019\u201d the Prime Minister recalled.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz also expressed deep concern over India\u2019s attempts to weaponize the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as an existential threat to Pakistan\u2019s 240 million people who rely on the waters for agriculture and daily life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis treaty is not just about water; it\u2019s about life. Our actions speak louder than words in our commitment to root out this menace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister lauded Field Marshal Asim Munir\u2019s leadership during the conflict, describing him as \u201cGod-fearing, fearless, and resolute.\u201d He noted that the Pakistani nation stood united behind its armed forces in defending the homeland with valor and professionalism.<\/p>\n<p>The summit also marked the strengthening of trilateral cooperation among Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan. In his address at Azerbaijan\u2019s Independence Day ceremony, PM Shehbaz described the bond among the three nations as \u201cthree souls, one heart,\u201d and paid rich tribute to the Azerbaijani people for liberating Karabakh under President Ilham Aliyev\u2019s \u201cvisionary leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a great honor to be in Lachin, celebrating Azerbaijan\u2019s Independence Day and Pakistan\u2019s Youm-e-Takbeer \u2014 the day we became a nuclear power. The symbolism of May 28 unites our histories and futures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also extended heartfelt congratulations to President Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people, stating that the fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan is based on shared history, mutual trust, and unwavering solidarity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Armenia attacked Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkiye stood by them. Today, when India attacked Pakistan, Presidents Erdogan and Aliyev stood by us. This is the essence of true brotherhood,\u201d PM Shehbaz said.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister strongly condemned the continued human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKashmir is soaked in the blood of innocent freedom fighters. Despite oppression, the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their struggle for self-determination,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also decried the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, where over 52,000 Palestinians\u2014children, women, and elderly\u2014have been martyred.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bloodshed in Gaza has shocked the conscience of humanity. We salute President Erdogan for being the voice of the oppressed. Let us unite our voices to demand a ceasefire and justice,\u201d he urged the global community.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz concluded his address by reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s commitment to regional cooperation and prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur flags today fly high\u2014symbols of unity, resilience, and shared destiny. Whether it\u2019s Karabakh, Kashmir, or Gaza\u2014we stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, upon arrival in Lachin, PM Shehbaz was warmly received by Azerbaijan\u2019s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin, and senior Azerbaijani officials.
