ISLAMABAD, Saturday, June 14, 2025 : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday evening, reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s strong solidarity with Iran in the wake of Israeli aggression.<\/p>\n
During the call, the prime minister condemned in the strongest terms what he described as Israel\u2019s \u201cunprovoked and unjustified attacks\u201d against the Islamic Republic of Iran. He said the strikes were a blatant violation of Iran\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and in total defiance of the United Nations Charter and international law.<\/p>\n
\u201cIran has every right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter,\u201d the prime minister said, while extending heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives caused by the attacks.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Prime Minister Shehbaz also recalled Pakistan\u2019s support for Iran during the UN Security Council’s emergency meeting on Friday, reiterating the country’s principled stance against aggression.<\/p>\n
He described Israel\u2019s provocations as a serious threat to both regional and global peace and stability, and strongly condemned its ongoing \u201cgenocidal campaign\u201d against the Palestinian people, carried out with impunity.<\/p>\n
Calling for urgent and credible international action, the prime minister urged the United Nations and the broader international community to take concrete steps to halt Israel\u2019s aggression and unlawful actions. He emphasized Pakistan\u2019s commitment to peace and its readiness to play a constructive role in defusing tensions.<\/p>\n
President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan\u2019s firm support, especially at the UN forum, calling it a testament to the deep-rooted, brotherly ties between the two nations. He briefed the prime minister on Iran\u2019s position regarding the crisis and called for greater coordination among Islamic countries to respond to the evolving threats.<\/p>\n
