PUTRAJAYA, Friday, July 11, 2025 : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato\u2019 Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a key diplomatic engagement for strengthening bilateral ties on Friday in Putrajaya.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting, reflecting the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening cooperation across political, economic, and regional spheres.<\/p>\n

Senator Dar conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s strong interest in expanding strategic collaboration with Malaysia\u2014particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and the halal economy. He also commended Malaysia\u2019s leadership as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, acknowledging its proactive role in addressing regional and global challenges.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the sentiments and expressed Malaysia\u2019s continued commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with Pakistan. He said he looked forward to the anticipated visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif later this year, calling it a valuable opportunity to further elevate bilateral ties.<\/p>\n

Both leaders discussed practical steps to enhance economic cooperation, especially through expanding halal trade. They also explored opportunities to increase exports of Pakistani meat, rice, and agricultural products to the Malaysian market.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Senator Dar thanked the Malaysian Prime Minister for the warm hospitality and the excellent arrangements made for the ARF Ministerial Meeting. He also appreciated Malaysia\u2019s efforts to boost economic ties following Prime Minister Anwar\u2019s official visit to Pakistan in October last year.<\/p>\n
