ISLAMABAD, Thursday, July 31, 2025 : Pakistan has joined hands with Ethiopia in the \u201cRenewal Through Planting\u201d campaign – a monumental effort that saw 700 million seedlings planted in a single day as part of Ethiopia\u2019s Green Legacy Initiative in a powerful show of global environmental solidarity.<\/p>\n

The joint plantation drive was marked with a ceremonial event and media briefing at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, bringing together a wide cross-section of society \u2014 from government and diplomatic circles to religious leaders, youth, and civil society.<\/p>\n

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, served as chief guest, while Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) from Pakistan\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated as guest of honor.<\/p>\n

Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker, briefed participants on the far-reaching objectives of the Green Legacy Initiative, launched in 2019 by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. The campaign aims to combat deforestation, mitigate climate change, reduce soil erosion, enhance food security, and promote sustainable development across Africa and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan\u2019s participation in this campaign sends a clear message: we are united in our efforts to tackle climate change,\u201d Ambassador Beker said. He lauded Pakistan for embracing the spirit of the Green Legacy and called it a new chapter in bilateral climate diplomacy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
