ISLAMABAD, Friday, January 2, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Friday visited the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to express Pakistan\u2019s condolences on the passing of former prime minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Begum Khaleda Zia.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Senator Dar conveyed his sympathies to the Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh, offered\u00a0fateha<\/em>, and recorded his remarks in the condolence book. He recalled that he had the opportunity to meet Begum Khaleda Zia during a visit to Bangladesh a few months earlier.\"\"<\/p>\n

IN HIS WRITTEN MESSAGE, THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER SAID HE NOTED \u201cWITH DEEP SORROW\u201d THE PASSING OF BEGUM KHALEDA ZIA, DESCRIBING HER AS A PROMINENT NATIONAL LEADER WHO DEVOTED HER LIFE TO PUBLIC SERVICE AND THE WELFARE OF HER COUNTRY.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Bangladesh, and to her family and supporters,\u201d he said. He added that Begum Khaleda Zia\u2019s resilience and leadership during challenging times had left a lasting legacy and that she would be remembered with respect by all who value service to country and people.\"\"<\/p>\n

Expressing solidarity at a time of national mourning, Senator Dar said the people of Pakistan stood with the people of Bangladesh in their grief. He offered prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved nation, saying that her contributions and legacy would continue to inspire future generations.<\/p>\n
