RAWALPINDI: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on Thursday paid an official visit to Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) as part of his state visit to Pakistan, highlighting the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation in defence, technology, and industrial development.<\/p>\n

The Uzbek president, accompanied by senior ministers and a high-level delegation, was warmly received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, who hosted the delegation and led them through key facilities at GIDS.<\/p>\n

DURING THE VISIT, PRESIDENT MIRZIYOYEV WAS GIVEN A COMPREHENSIVE BRIEFING ON GIDS\u2019 DIVERSE PORTFOLIO, WHICH INCLUDES ADVANCED DEFENCE SYSTEMS, INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIES, AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The delegation toured various sections of the facility and observed a range of defence products, reflecting Pakistan\u2019s expanding expertise in indigenous defence production and its broader industrial base.<\/p>\n

Officials briefed the visiting delegation on Pakistan\u2019s progress in achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing, as well as its efforts to integrate innovation, research and development, and industrial efficiency into its defence ecosystem. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase Pakistan\u2019s capacity to design, develop and produce modern defence solutions in line with international standards.<\/p>\n

The visit underscored the shared commitment of Pakistan and Uzbekistan to deepen collaboration across defence, technology and industrial sectors. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships through knowledge-sharing, joint ventures, and institutional linkages aimed at promoting sustainable industrial growth and enhancing strategic cooperation.<\/p>\n
