Russian capital marks anniversary with more than 100 events celebrating its heritage, culture and future<\/em><\/h6>\n

MOSCOW:<\/strong> Moscow is celebrating its 879th City Day, marking the centuries-old history, cultural heritage and continuing transformation of the Russian capital into a modern global metropolis.<\/p>\n

The Embassy of Russia in Pakistan extended its heartfelt congratulations to Moscow on the anniversary, describing the city as the heart of Russia whose history, culture and traditions have played a central role in shaping the country.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Historical records contain the first known reference to Moscow in 1147, when it was still a small settlement. Over the centuries, the city has developed into a dynamic metropolis with a population of more than 13 million people, playing a central role in Russia\u2019s political, cultural, scientific and educational life.<\/p>\n

According to the Embassy, Moscow City Day provides an opportunity to honour the capital\u2019s rich historical legacy and cultural heritage while also looking toward its future.<\/p>\n

The Russian capital has continued to combine its centuries-old traditions with modern urban development, evolving into a smart and technologically advanced city while preserving its distinctive historical character.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A wide range of celebrations are being held across Moscow on September 5 and 6, with more than 100 events organised to mark the city\u2019s 879th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The celebrations highlight Moscow\u2019s cultural heritage, historic landmarks and vibrant urban life, while showcasing the city\u2019s ongoing development and modernisation.<\/p>\n

The Embassy said the anniversary represents not only a celebration of Moscow\u2019s remarkable past but also a message of confidence in its bright future.<\/p>\n
