ISLAMABAD, Monday, July 14, 2025 : In a significant step toward reshaping the academic and institutional future of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed met with Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and IIUI Rector, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, to discuss key reforms, governance priorities, and the university’s evolving role in Islamic and contemporary education.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening IIUI’s academic standards, safeguarding institutional merit, and revitalizing its core Islamic identity in line with modern educational needs. Both leaders emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the upcoming meetings of the Selection Board and Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), pledging to uphold merit and procedural integrity.

Reaffirming his commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Alahmed highlighted several ongoing reform measures, including the digitization of administrative processes, enhanced student engagement, and faculty development programs designed to nurture a culture of scholarly innovation and research.

“The university must be institutionally strong and protected from manipulation by vested interests,” Dr. Alahmed stated, stressing the need for equitable and rule-based governance. He also underscored the urgency of upgrading campus infrastructure and student services, describing them as vital components of the academic experience.

Financial sustainability emerged as another key theme of the discussion. Both sides agreed on exploring alternative revenue streams, encouraging public-private partnerships, and attracting long-term investment to strengthen IIUI’s institutional autonomy and resilience.

Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed praised Dr. Alahmed’s student-centric leadership, noting his sincere efforts to bridge the gap between the administration and the student body. “This reform-driven approach will not only revive IIUI’s academic spirit but also deepen Pakistan-Saudi educational collaboration,” he observed.

He reaffirmed HEC’s full support for IIUI’s structural and academic reforms, particularly in areas such as curriculum modernization, quality assurance, and merit-based faculty promotions.

The two sides agreed to continue regular dialogue in the coming weeks to align IIUI’s institutional transformation with national higher education priorities.

Dr. Alahmed thanked the HEC Chairman for his guidance and reiterated his unwavering dedication to delivering quality education, fostering transparency, and building a learning environment rooted in tradition yet responsive to modern-day academic challenges.
