Governor urges people to stand alongside state institutions against terrorism, strengthen ties with the federation and other provinces, and reject violence and lawlessness
PESHAWAR: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, in his first address to the people of the province in his expanded role as provincial chief executive and head of the province, has welcomed the progress initiative, expressing hope that it would usher in a new era of peace, development and prosperity.
Addressing the people, Kundi said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had made a clear decision that they could no longer live alongside elements promoting extremism, fitna, or terrorism. He called on them to stand shoulder to shoulder with state institutions in confronting these threats and continue the struggle until the last terrorist was eliminated.
The governor stressed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted friendly and brotherly relations with the federal government and other provinces, enabling mutual cooperation, the exchange of experiences and collective efforts to improve the province’s economic and social conditions.
He said peace must go hand in hand with development and prosperity, adding that the people wanted effective development schemes implemented transparently, with the benefits reaching those for whom the projects were intended.
Kundi described the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as peace-loving citizens who did not support terrorism, chaos or disorder. He said the province’s people wanted stability, progress and opportunities for a better future rather than violence and confrontation.
In his concluding remarks, the governor urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands or become involved in riots and violent activities. He warned that anyone resorting to unlawful actions would face strict action in accordance with the law.
He concluded his address with the national slogan, “Pakistan Zindabad.”
