President Zardari invites Austrian investment in IT, Alpine tourism during envoy’s farewell call

ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, July 23, 2025 : President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday invited Austrian companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s growing information technology and tourism sectors, emphasizing the country’s rich human capital and untapped alpine tourism potential.

He made the remarks during a farewell meeting with the outgoing Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andrea Wicke, at Aiwan-e-Sadr. President Zardari highlighted the promising landscape of Pakistan’s tech industry, driven by a skilled youth workforce, and called for enhanced Austrian engagement in this domain.

He also underscored Pakistan’s vast tourism potential, particularly in mountainous regions, and encouraged Austria—renowned for its expertise in alpine tourism—to consider strategic investments in this sector.

Appreciating Ambassador Wicke’s contributions to strengthening Pakistan-Austria relations, the president emphasized the importance of boosting trade and economic cooperation for mutual benefit. He congratulated the ambassador on the successful completion of her tenure and extended his best wishes for her future diplomatic assignments.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the meeting.
