JEDDAH, Saturday, January 10, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday arrived at the Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to participate in the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, convened to discuss Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.
UPON HIS ARRIVAL AT THE OIC HEADQUARTERS IN JEDDAH, SENATOR DAR WAS RECEIVED BY OIC SECRETARY GENERAL HISSEIN BRAHIM TAHA AND PAKISTAN’S PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE TO THE OIC, AMBASSADOR FAWAD SHER.

The extraordinary session has been called amid growing concern across the Muslim world over the implications of Israel’s move for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as its potential impact on regional stability in the Horn of Africa.
Pakistan is expected to reaffirm its principled position in support of Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, in line with international law and longstanding OIC resolutions. The meeting brings together foreign ministers and senior representatives of OIC member states to coordinate a collective response and consider diplomatic measures addressing the issue.
Senator Dar’s participation underscores Pakistan’s active role within the OIC and its commitment to multilateral diplomacy on matters affecting the Muslim Ummah and international peace and security.
