DAVOS, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to advance Pakistan’s economic diplomacy and engage global leaders, investors and trade partners at the World Economic Forum (WEF).
DURING HIS PARTICIPATION AT THE ANNUAL WEF MEETING, THE PRIME MINISTER IS EXPECTED TO HIGHLIGHT PAKISTAN’S ONGOING ECONOMIC REFORM AGENDA, AIMED AT STABILISATION, GROWTH AND LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY, WHILE PROJECTING THE COUNTRY AS AN ATTRACTIVE DESTINATION FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENT AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS.
Officials said Pakistan’s reform-driven economic trajectory is unlocking new opportunities, supported by a resilient and entrepreneurial workforce and vast untapped potential in key sectors including energy, agriculture, minerals and emerging technologies.
The prime minister will hold meetings with heads of state, corporate executives, and leaders of international financial institutions to explore avenues for mutually beneficial trade, investment and technology cooperation. Emphasis will also be placed on attracting long-term investment aligned with Pakistan’s development priorities.
“Pakistan stands ready to translate its economic potential into concrete partnerships and sustainable growth,” officials said, noting that the government’s focus remains on creating a business-friendly environment, enhancing competitiveness, and integrating the country more deeply into global value chains.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s presence at Davos underscores Pakistan’s renewed push to engage proactively with the global economy and position itself as a reliable partner for international investors amid evolving global economic dynamics.
