RIYADH: Fijian conjoined twins Jesibelle and Desisia arrived in Riyadh on Friday under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to undergo medical evaluation for a possible separation surgery.
Upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport, the twins were transferred to King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital, where a specialized medical team will assess their condition and determine the feasibility of performing a separation procedure.
Supervisor-General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and head of the surgical team, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, expressed his appreciation to the Saudi leadership for its continued support of humanitarian medical initiatives.
He said the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program reflects the Kingdom’s enduring commitment to humanitarian assistance and its internationally recognized expertise in treating complex congenital conditions, providing life-saving medical care to children from around the world.
The twins’ family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of Saudi Arabia for the warm reception, generous hospitality and swift medical attention extended to their daughters.
The Saudi Conjoined Twins Program is regarded as one of the world’s leading humanitarian medical initiatives, having successfully treated numerous complex cases involving children from dozens of countries, further reinforcing the Kingdom’s role in advancing global humanitarian healthcare.
