Pakistani-American businessman praises Field Marshal Asim Munir and PM Shehbaz Sharif for strengthening Pakistan’s global standing; says Islamabad’s peace efforts with Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Iran offer a ray of hope amid regional tensions

LONDON: Pakistani-American businessman Sajid Tarar has praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for strengthening Pakistan’s international standing, saying the country has emerged as an important regional player through its diplomatic and security engagements.
Speaking to the media in London, Tarar said Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to Iran underscored Pakistan’s strategic importance and its role in promoting regional stability and international peace.
He said Pakistan’s close geographical proximity to Iran made peace and stability there a matter of direct national interest, warning that further escalation could have serious consequences for Pakistan, including a possible influx of refugees.
Highlighting Pakistan’s military diplomacy following Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, Tarar said the country’s diplomatic engagement had brought it into a significant position in regional affairs. He described Field Marshal Asim Munir’s efforts to bring regional stakeholders together as remarkable and said every Pakistani should take pride in the country’s growing role.
Tarar also praised Saudi Arabia for participating in diplomatic efforts despite facing security challenges in the region. He said the involvement of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in engagement with Iran offered a ray of hope for reducing tensions and advancing peace.
He stressed that dialogue and sustained diplomatic engagement were essential to preventing further escalation and resolving regional differences.
Commenting on US President Donald Trump’s political position amid the conflict involving Iran, Tarar said the situation in the United States and Israel remained highly challenging. He argued that a prolonged conflict could intensify domestic political pressure on both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Tarar said the coming days would be important for regional diplomacy, expressing hope that ongoing contacts among regional stakeholders would help create space for negotiations and de-escalation.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s diplomatic role, alongside Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, demonstrated the importance of collective engagement in addressing regional crises and pursuing lasting peace.
