ISLAMABAD, Sunday, August 03, 2025 : Pakistan and Iran on Sunday reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation across multiple domains, including diplomacy, regional security, and economic development.

This mutual resolve was reiterated during a high-level meeting between President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and visiting Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Welcoming the Iranian leader, President Zardari described the visit as a significant milestone in further deepening the time-tested brotherhood between the two neighboring nations. He emphasized that Pakistan and Iran enjoy historic ties rooted in shared religion, culture, values, and mutual respect.

The two leaders held in-depth discussions on key regional and global developments, underscoring the urgency of coordinated diplomatic efforts to prevent conflict escalation and foster lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.

President Zardari lauded Iran’s principled stance on major regional issues and acknowledged Tehran’s unwavering support for cooperative frameworks that promote regional harmony. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude for Iran’s expressions of solidarity during Pakistan’s critical junctures.

The President commended Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, for his continued and vocal support for the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reaffirming Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Iran’s consistent moral backing.

Condemning the recent unprovoked Israeli aggression against Iran, President Zardari paid tribute to the courage, resilience, and unity displayed by the Iranian people during the 12-day conflict. He expressed confidence that President Pezeshkian’s visit would inject new momentum into Pakistan-Iran relations and open up new avenues of strategic cooperation.

In response, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan’s leadership and people for their heartfelt support during the recent war and for standing by Iran in its time of need. He praised Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in promoting de-escalation, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Both leaders reaffirmed their intention to work closely to bolster regional peace and development and enhance cooperation in trade, energy, cultural exchanges, and parliamentary engagement—emphasizing that unity and collaboration are key to a prosperous future for the broader region.
