TIKA to support Green Skills Laboratory at National Skills University Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Sunday, September 7, 2025 : The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has pledged to support the establishment of a Green Skills Laboratory at the National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad to strengthen technical education and skill development in Pakistan.

The announcement was made by TIKA Country Director Saliha Tuna during her visit to NSU, where she received a briefing from Dr. Irfan Ahmad Gondal, Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology. Dr. Gondal, who also serves on the Executive Advisory Committee of the Pakistan Alternate Energy Association and the Renewable Energy Association of Pakistan, highlighted the university’s ongoing initiatives in renewable energy and skills training.

Tuna emphasized the need to expand skill-based education to remote areas of Pakistan to ensure that economic benefits reach grassroots communities.

As part of her visit, she also planted a fig tree under the university’s monsoon plantation drive, symbolizing a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar welcomed TIKA’s initiative, noting that the establishment of a Green Skills Laboratory would significantly boost the university’s capacity to provide cutting-edge training in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
