ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said Pakistan stands ready to host dialogue between the United States and Iran to facilitate a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the ongoing Middle East conflict.
In a statement shared on his official X account, the prime minister said, “Subject to concurrence by the US and Iran, Pakistan stands ready and honoured to be the host to facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks for a comprehensive settlement of the ongoing conflict.”
He added that Pakistan welcomed and fully supported ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war, emphasizing that dialogue remained essential for ensuring peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Reinforcing the government’s position, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Islamabad was already prepared to host talks between Washington and Tehran.
“If both sides agree, Pakistan is always ready to host talks,” Andrabi said in an interview with CNN, reiterating Pakistan’s willingness to play a constructive role in de-escalation efforts.
In a separate conversation with The Express Tribune, the spokesperson said Pakistan remained firmly committed to resolving the conflict through diplomatic engagement, in line with its longstanding foreign policy principles. He stressed that negotiations often required discretion and urged the media to avoid speculation while awaiting official outcomes.
“Pakistan, consistent with its longstanding policy, remains committed to the resolution of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East through diplomatic means and engagements,” he said.
The development underscores Pakistan’s increasing diplomatic outreach amid escalating regional tensions, positioning itself as a potential facilitator of dialogue between key global and regional stakeholders.
In a notable development, US President Donald Trump shared the prime minister’s statement on his Truth Social platform, reflecting growing international attention to Pakistan’s offer.
The move highlights Islamabad’s intent to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution at a time when the region faces heightened uncertainty and the risk of broader conflict.
