RAWALPINDI: A two-week Pakistan–Egypt joint military exercise, ‘Thunder-II’, focusing on counterterrorism operations, concluded successfully at Cherat, the military’s media wing said on Monday.
The exercise, conducted between the armies of Pakistan and Egypt, was aimed at enhancing interoperability through the refinement of drills, procedures, and techniques related to counterterrorism operations.
Elite combat teams from the Special Services Group (SSG) and Egyptian Special Forces participated in the training, demonstrating high standards of professionalism and operational capability throughout the exercise.
The General Officer Commanding of the SSG attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while the Commander of Egyptian Paratroopers, Major General Mohamed Saad Abdel Razik, along with Egypt’s Defence Attaché, also witnessed the event.
Terming it a reflection of deep-rooted defence ties, ISPR said the exercise contributed to further strengthening longstanding military-to-military relations between the two friendly countries.
