Canada, Qatar sign strategic dialogue MoU to expand bilateral cooperation

OTTAWA, Thursday, May 14, 2026 (WNP): Canada and Qatar on Thursday signed a Strategic Dialogue Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors including trade, education, development and regional security.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between Canadian officials and Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

According to officials, the memorandum establishes a new framework for advancing cooperation on shared priorities and enhancing long-term engagement between the two countries.

The Canadian side described Qatar as a trusted partner and said the agreement marked an important step in expanding collaboration and reinforcing bilateral relations amid evolving regional and global challenges.

The two sides also discussed avenues for closer coordination on regional stability, economic cooperation and international development initiatives.
