Pope Leo XIV says he has ‘no fear’ of Donald J. Trump, reaffirms message of peace

Date:

VATICAN CITY: Pope Leo XIV has said he has “no fear” of the administration of US President Donald J. Trump, responding to recent criticism directed at him by the American leader.

Speaking to reporters, the Pope emphasized the distinction between religious and political roles, noting that the Church does not approach foreign policy in the same way as governments.

“We are not politicians; we don’t deal with foreign policy with the same perspective he might understand it,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to core Christian teachings, the Pope stressed the importance of peace, citing the Gospel message: “Blessed are the peacemakers.”

His remarks come amid an exchange of sharp statements between the Vatican and Washington, highlighting differing perspectives on global conflicts, diplomacy, and moral responsibility.

The development underscores the broader debate over the role of religious leadership in international affairs and peacebuilding efforts.
