Ishaq Dar, Sergey Lavrov discuss bilateral ties, regional peace efforts in telephonic contact

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday held a telephonic conversation with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and cooperation at multilateral fora in support of international peace and security.

During the conversation, Foreign Minister Lavrov appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, acknowledging Islamabad’s efforts in promoting diplomatic engagement.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s firm resolve to continue contributing to initiatives aimed at advancing dialogue and diplomacy as key tools for resolving regional and global issues.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagements and discussed the rescheduling of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Russia at an early mutually convenient date.

Ishaq Dar also extended an invitation to Sergey Lavrov to visit Pakistan, reflecting Islamabad’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.

The two sides agreed to remain in close contact to advance cooperation and coordination on matters of mutual interest.
