Dar departs for Beijing to co-chair 7th Pakistan–China Strategic Dialogue, signaling strong start to 2026 diplomacy

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, January 3, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday departed for Beijing to co-chair, alongside Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the 7th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue scheduled for January 4, 2026.

SENATOR DAR IS THE FIRST FOREIGN DIGNITARY TO VISIT CHINA IN 2026, UNDERSCORING THE DEPTH AND PRIORITY OF PAKISTAN–CHINA RELATIONS AT THE OUTSET OF THE NEW YEAR. THE VISIT IS BEING UNDERTAKEN AT THE INVITATION OF THE CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER.

The high-level dialogue is expected to comprehensively review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including political, economic, security and regional dimensions. Both sides will assess progress on existing initiatives, explore new avenues of partnership, and chart a forward-looking roadmap to further strengthen the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The talks will also provide an opportunity for the two foreign ministers to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, stability and development in the region.

The strategic dialogue remains a key institutional mechanism guiding Pakistan–China relations and reflects the enduring trust, close coordination and long-term convergence of interests between the two countries.
