CHOLPON-ATA: Pakistan and China on Friday reaffirmed their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and pledged to deepen bilateral collaboration while strengthening coordination on regional and multilateral issues during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic.
The two leaders held what officials described as a warm and productive exchange of views on bilateral relations, evolving regional developments, and cooperation within the SCO and other multilateral forums.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar thanked Foreign Minister Wang Yi for acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting regional peace and stability, particularly the appreciation expressed by the Chinese foreign minister during his remarks at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
According to China’s state broadcaster CGTN, Foreign Minister Wang Yi commended Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating the U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding and expressed Beijing’s support for Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and advancing peace.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi also conveyed China’s best wishes to Pakistan as it prepares to assume the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) and host the SCO Summit in 2027, reaffirming Beijing’s support for Islamabad’s leadership role within the regional organization.
The two sides agreed to further expand cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including economic development, regional connectivity, security cooperation, and multilateral coordination, while reaffirming their shared commitment to safeguarding regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution, emphasizing Islamabad’s determination to work closely with China in advancing regional cooperation and strengthening collective efforts for peace and prosperity.
The meeting underscored the enduring strength of the Pakistan-China strategic partnership and reflected both countries’ resolve to enhance coordination on regional and global issues while advancing their shared vision of peace, connectivity, and inclusive development through the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
