Bulgarian envoy, CDA chief discuss urban development, environmental cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 : Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan, Irena Gancheva, called on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday to explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation, particularly in urban development, environmental sustainability, and institutional collaboration.

The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, was marked by a cordial exchange of views focused on strengthening ties between Bulgaria and Pakistan through shared priorities in city planning, urban beautification, and green infrastructure.

Ambassador Gancheva lauded the CDA’s efforts under Randhawa’s leadership to modernize Islamabad and improve its environmental profile. “I appreciate the remarkable progress Islamabad has made in beautification and sustainability. Chairman Randhawa’s leadership reflects a forward-looking vision for a modern, green capital,” she said.

Chairman Randhawa welcomed the Bulgarian interest in partnering with Pakistan in the fields of urban planning and environmental innovation, reiterating his commitment to transforming Islamabad into a model city that sets benchmarks for development and sustainability.

“We are dedicated to making Islamabad more beautiful, livable, and eco-friendly,” Randhawa said, expressing appreciation for Bulgaria’s willingness to collaborate in these key areas.

Both sides agreed to explore joint initiatives and technical cooperation, including knowledge-sharing and potential partnerships in green urban projects and city management reforms.

Chairman Randhawa reaffirmed Pakistan’s intent to deepen diplomatic and institutional relations with Bulgaria, while Ambassador Gancheva conveyed her government’s full support in advancing mutual goals.

The meeting underscored a growing momentum in Bulgaria-Pakistan relations, with a particular focus on sustainable urban development and environmental stewardship.
