ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 30, 2025 : Iran Air’s inaugural Flight 826 (A319) — operating on the Mashhad–Zahedan–Quetta route — landed at Quetta International Airport late Wednesday night to a ceremonial Water Cannon Salute, marking the airline’s first-ever operation to Balochistan’s capital in a landmark step toward strengthening regional air connectivity and fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Iran.
The historic arrival was celebrated in a special inaugural ceremony at the State Lounge, attended by senior officials, diplomats, and business representatives. Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel graced the occasion as chief guest, alongside the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran and representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Pakistan and Iran, symbolizing the enduring friendship and shared aspirations of the two neighbouring nations.
IN HIS ADDRESS, GOVERNOR MANDOKHEL HAILED THE LAUNCH AS A “SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE” IN STRENGTHENING BILATERAL COOPERATION, TRADE, TOURISM, AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE BETWEEN BALOCHISTAN AND IRAN.
“This flight not only enhances people-to-people connectivity but also opens new avenues for tourism, pilgrimage, and commerce,” the Governor said, expressing optimism that the new route would foster greater regional integration and economic opportunity.
The Consul General of Iran reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to deepening economic, social, and cultural cooperation with Pakistan, particularly through improved transport and communication linkages.
According to official details, Iran Air Flight 826 will now operate once a week, every Wednesday, arriving in Quetta at 9:30 PM. On its maiden journey, the flight carried 30 passengers inbound and 120 passengers outbound, reflecting strong public interest in the new cross-border connection.
A CAA spokesperson described the event as “a proud moment for Quetta International Airport,” noting that the new air link will benefit religious pilgrims, business travelers, and families on both sides of the border.
With this new service, Quetta’s aviation network continues to expand, enhancing its role as a gateway for regional trade, tourism, and cultural exchange across South and Central Asia.
