President Zardari concludes Bahrain visit, signals expanded economic, strategic cooperation

MANAMA, Friday, January 16, 2026 (WNP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday departed Bahrain for Pakistan after completing a four-day official visit that underscored growing momentum in bilateral relations, economic collaboration, and strategic engagement between the two brotherly countries.

THE PRESIDENT WAS SEEN OFF AT MANAMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BY BAHRAIN’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, DR. ABDULLATIF BIN RASHID AL ZAYANI.

During the visit, both sides reported meaningful progress in strengthening political ties, enhancing economic and trade cooperation, and advancing collaboration on matters of mutual interest. The visit aimed to deepen long-standing fraternal relations between Pakistan and Bahrain while exploring new avenues for investment, trade, and institutional cooperation.

President Zardari held high-level meetings with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Discussions focused on regional developments, bilateral cooperation, and opportunities to expand economic partnerships.

In recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations, President Zardari was conferred the prestigious Sheikh Isa Award during the visit.

Officials said the visit opened fresh prospects for cooperation across multiple sectors, reflecting a shared commitment by Pakistan and Bahrain to deepen their partnership and promote mutual prosperity.

President Zardari’s engagements in Bahrain highlighted both countries’ intent to elevate ties through sustained dialogue, expanded economic collaboration, and people-to-people connectivity.
