Pakistan, Uzbekistan reaffirm commitment to deepen strategic, people-centred ties as Ishaq Dar meets President Mirziyoyev

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday called on the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is undertaking a two-day State Visit to Pakistan, reaffirming both countries’ resolve to further strengthen and expand their longstanding bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Senator Ishaq Dar conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the President, the Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan to President Mirziyoyev. He emphasized the high importance Pakistan attaches to its cordial and brotherly relations with Uzbekistan, rooted in shared history, cultural affinities, and mutual respect.

THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER EXPRESSED CONFIDENCE THAT PRESIDENT MIRZIYOYEV’S VISIT WOULD PROVIDE FRESH IMPETUS TO BILATERAL COOPERATION AND HELP TRANSLATE THE STRONG POLITICAL UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN ISLAMABAD AND TASHKENT INTO CONCRETE OUTCOMES.

He noted that high-level exchanges play a vital role in enhancing mutual trust and opening new avenues for collaboration across a broad range of sectors.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening and diversifying Pakistan–Uzbekistan ties, with a shared focus on expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political engagement, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and close coordination to fully realize the untapped potential of bilateral relations.

The meeting also reflected a convergence of views on regional peace, stability, and economic integration, particularly in strengthening connectivity between South and Central Asia. Both leaders expressed optimism that the outcomes of the ongoing State Visit would further consolidate the partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and lay the groundwork for long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s two-day State Visit is widely seen as a significant step in reinforcing the strategic direction of Pakistan–Uzbekistan relations and advancing a shared vision for regional connectivity, development, and prosperity.
