Saudi Envoy warns of global impact of Iran attacks, praises Pakistan’s peace efforts

Date:

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki on Thursday expressed deep concern over recent Iranian attacks targeting Gulf countries, warning of serious regional and global consequences while praising Pakistan’s role in promoting peace.

In a video statement, the ambassador said the attacks on Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states constituted an “unjustified aggression” against sovereign nations that were not party to the conflict, describing them as a clear violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

HE SAID THE STRIKES HAD RESULTED IN CIVILIAN CASUALTIES, INCLUDING CITIZENS AND EXPATRIATES OF MULTIPLE NATIONALITIES, AND HAD TARGETED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, BUILDINGS, HOTELS, AND CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE, HIGHLIGHTING THE HUMANITARIAN DIMENSION OF THE CRISIS.

Ambassador Al-Malki warned that the situation posed a grave threat beyond the region, particularly due to risks to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global artery for trade, energy supplies, and economic stability. “The danger is no longer regional alone, but global and humanitarian, affecting the lives and development prospects of people worldwide,” he said.

He emphasized that his message was “not merely political but humanitarian,” stressing that security and stability were indivisible and required collective responsibility. He underscored that respect for international law was essential to safeguarding the future of all nations.

The Saudi envoy also commended Pakistan for its “responsible and wise” approach, appreciating Islamabad’s continued diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote peaceful resolution of the crisis.

He reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia remained committed to pursuing stability through wisdom and international solidarity, expressing confidence that adherence to humanitarian principles and cooperative engagement would help overcome the current challenges.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf, with increasing international calls for restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation and protect global economic and energy security.
