Türkiye delegation visits ANF headquarters, explores enhanced cooperation on drug prevention, rehabilitation

RAWALPINDI, Wednesday, July 22, 2026 (WNP): A high-level delegation from Türkiye, led by the Secretary General of the International Federation of Green Crescent, visited the Headquarters of Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Rawalpindi to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating drug abuse and advancing rehabilitation initiatives.

During the visit, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the ANF’s organisational structure, operational framework, and its key achievements in counter-narcotics enforcement. Senior ANF officials also highlighted the force’s ongoing initiatives aimed at drug demand reduction, public awareness, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The visiting delegation was briefed in detail on the Drug Rehabilitation Centres and the Model Addiction Treatment facilities established by the ANF to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for individuals affected by substance use disorders. The briefing underscored Pakistan’s integrated approach to supporting recovery, social reintegration, and community-based prevention programmes.

The Turkish delegation appreciated the ANF’s multidimensional strategy in addressing the challenges of narcotics through law enforcement, preventive education, and rehabilitation.

Both sides exchanged views on best practices, institutional experiences, and opportunities for expanding technical cooperation in the field of drug demand reduction.

At the conclusion of the visit, representatives of the ANF and the International Federation of Green Crescent agreed to work closely in promoting their shared objectives of drug prevention, rehabilitation, public awareness, and capacity building. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration through the exchange of expertise, joint initiatives, and sustained institutional engagement to address the growing global challenge of substance abuse.

The visit reflects the growing partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye in the field of public health, social welfare, and counter-narcotics, reinforcing their shared commitment to building healthier, safer, and drug-free communities.
