During his stay in the holy city, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister paid respects at Roza-e-Rasool Peace Be Upon Him and offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan, the well-being of its people and the Muslim Ummah, as well as for regional peace and stability.
He also visited Jabal Uhud, where he paid homage to the Shuhada-e-Uhud and offered prayers.
Dar subsequently proceeded to Riyadh to participate in a meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee (SPDC) established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, where he is accompanied by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Defence Forces/Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting brings together representatives of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye under the framework of the Makkah Agreement. Pakistan’s participation is part of ongoing efforts to institutionalize cooperation among the three countries and strengthen coordination on regional security and stability.
The inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee was held in Istanbul on August 31, 2026. The three countries subsequently agreed to further institutionalize cooperation under the agreement, including through a Secretariat to be established in Saudi Arabia.
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye on August 7, 2026. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has described the accord as defensive in nature and aimed at strengthening collective deterrence, sovereignty, security and regional stability.
The latest engagement in Riyadh is expected to provide an opportunity for the three countries to review progress under the agreement and advance mechanisms for closer political and defence coordination.
