First Lady Aseefa highlights cultural diplomacy during visit to Bahrain’s National, Pearl Museums

MANAMA, Thursday, January 15, 2026 (WNP): First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Thursday visited the Bahrain National Museum and the Pearl Museum, underscoring the importance of preserving national heritage as a vital source of identity, unity and inspiration for future generations.

The First Lady was accompanied by Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Bahrain’s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning and Minister-in-Waiting. Upon arrival, she was received by Farah Mohamed Mattar, Director General of Museums and Culture, and Hani Ali Behzad, Director of Communications and Partnerships.

DURING THE VISIT, THE FIRST LADY WAS GIVEN A GUIDED TOUR OF BOTH MUSEUMS, WHICH SHOWCASE BAHRAIN’S RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE, DEEP HISTORICAL ROOTS AND ENDURING CIVILIZATIONAL LEGACY.

The exhibits highlighted the Kingdom’s globally renowned maritime traditions, including pearl diving, which have played a defining role in shaping Bahrain’s history and identity.

Expressing appreciation for the warm hospitality, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said the visit provided a valuable opportunity to witness Bahrain’s cultural and historical treasures firsthand. She emphasized that safeguarding history and cultural heritage is essential for strengthening national identity and fostering continuity between generations.

The First Lady also highlighted the strong potential for enhanced Pakistan–Bahrain cooperation in cultural diplomacy, museum partnerships, academic exchanges and the preservation of archaeological heritage. She noted that both countries share remarkable civilizational richness, pointing to Pakistan’s Indus Valley civilization and Bahrain’s Dilmun civilization as enduring symbols of their ancient histories.

She stressed that deeper collaboration in heritage conservation and cultural exchange could further strengthen people-to-people ties and promote mutual understanding between Pakistan and Bahrain, contributing to closer bilateral relations rooted in shared respect for history and culture.
