MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin met with women serving the country in various capacities at the Kremlin ahead of International Women’s Day, recognizing their contributions on the front lines and across key sectors of national life.

The meeting brought together women from diverse professions, including members of the military, doctors, war correspondents, artists, and professionals working in public service and humanitarian fields across Russia. The gathering highlighted the growing role of women in defense, healthcare, journalism, and cultural life during a period of national and international challenges.

According to the Kremlin, the event was organized to acknowledge the dedication and service of women who contribute to the country’s security, social development, and humanitarian work.

During the meeting, participants shared their experiences working in demanding environments, including medical missions and reporting from conflict zones.

President Putin praised the resilience and professionalism of Russian women, emphasizing their role in supporting society and national institutions. He noted that women across the country continue to contribute significantly not only in traditional professions but also in areas such as defense and frontline services.

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, is widely celebrated in Russia with official ceremonies, awards, and public events recognizing women’s achievements in society, politics, science, and culture.

The Kremlin meeting is part of a series of engagements traditionally held by the Russian leadership to mark the occasion and highlight the contributions of women in national life, including those serving in the armed forces and humanitarian sectors.

Observers say such events are intended to underline the importance of women’s participation in public life while acknowledging their role in supporting communities and national institutions during challenging times.
