Lavrov says West aggravating global situation, holds extensive talks with China’s Wang Yi

Date:

BEIJING: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday said the West is aggravating the international situation, as he held over four hours of talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his official visit to China from April 14–15.

According to Lavrov, the discussions covered a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations and key international developments.

“The international situation… is now being aggravated by the actions of our Western colleagues,” Lavrov said, referring to developments in regions such as Ukraine, Latin America, and the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that Moscow and Beijing also reviewed efforts to strengthen trade, economic, and investment cooperation, aiming to shield it from sanctions and what he described as “illegal methods, coercion, blackmail, and dictation.”

The visit underscores deepening coordination between Russia and China on global political and economic issues amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
