ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 (WNP): A high-level delegation led by Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence, where both sides held detailed discussions on regional developments, including the implications of the recent US-Iran conflict.
According to a spokesperson of JUI-F, the meeting focused on the broader impact of the conflict and evolving regional dynamics, with an emphasis on prospects for peace and stability.
During the meeting, Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed gratitude to Maulana Fazlur Rehman for his “vibrant stance” on the US-Iran conflict and appreciated the support extended by the Pakistani people.
He termed Pakistan’s role in hosting negotiations between the United States and Iran as a matter of honour, and commended the balanced and principled position adopted by Pakistan’s scholars and various schools of thought.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, on the occasion, said that Pakistan’s facilitation of dialogue between the two sides reflects its commitment to peace. He expressed hope for a ceasefire and lasting stability in the region, reiterating his call for the formation of a united Islamic bloc.
He said that unity among Muslim countries is essential to overcome challenges, warning that without collective strength, the Islamic world risks continued exploitation and loss of control over its resources. He stressed that the sovereignty of Islamic countries must be respected and underscored the importance of resolving regional issues through dialogue and collective efforts.
Highlighting key concerns, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the liberation of Palestine remains a central issue for the Muslim Ummah, adding that protecting Bait al-Maqdis (Al-Aqsa Mosque) from occupation is a shared responsibility of all Muslims.
The meeting was attended by senior JUI leaders, including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Senator Kamran Murtaza, Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, Maulana Asjad Mahmood, and Mufti Abrar.
The interaction reflects ongoing political and diplomatic engagements in Pakistan amid heightened regional developments and efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and unity in the Muslim world.
