Pakistan Army Chief meets Iranian Foreign Minister in Tehran, reinforces peace efforts

TEHRAN, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 (WNP): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Pakistan, arrived in Tehran on an official visit, where he held a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister welcomed the Army Chief and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. He described Pakistan’s efforts as a reflection of the deep-rooted and longstanding bilateral relationship between the two countries.

“Delighted to welcome Field Marshal Munir to Iran,” Foreign Minister Araghchi said, while thanking Pakistan for its constructive mediation and gracious hosting of dialogue.

He emphasized that both countries share a strong commitment to advancing peace and stability in the region.

Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at de-escalation and fostering cooperation in the region. The interaction highlights the importance both Pakistan and Iran attach to continued dialogue and coordination on regional issues of mutual concern.

The visit is being seen as part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach to support peace initiatives and strengthen ties with regional partners.
