UAE, Iran leaders discuss de-escalation efforts in rare high-level call

ABU DHABI, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 (WNP): United Arab Emirates Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held a telephone conversation with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to discuss the evolving regional situation and efforts to reduce tensions.

According to the UAE’s state news agency WAM, the two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments and explored ways to de-escalate tensions amid ongoing instability in the Middle East.

The contact is being viewed as a significant diplomatic engagement, coming at a time of heightened regional tensions and continued international efforts to promote dialogue and stability.

Officials emphasized the importance of sustained communication and coordination between regional stakeholders to support peace and prevent further escalation.

The conversation reflects broader diplomatic initiatives underway in the region aimed at easing tensions and advancing political solutions to ongoing conflicts.
