RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has emerged as the safest country among the Group of Twenty (G20) nations, underscoring the Kingdom’s success in building a secure environment that supports economic growth, tourism, investment, entertainment and an enhanced quality of life through advanced security strategies and effective governance.
According to data from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Indicators Database, compared with the 2025 Safety Index, Saudi Arabia secured the top position among G20 countries for public safety, with 97.7 percent of residents reporting that they feel safe walking alone at night in their neighbourhoods.
The achievement reflects the Kingdom’s comprehensive approach to public security under its leadership, supported by sustained efforts of government institutions and security agencies to preserve stability, strengthen the rule of law and provide a safe environment for citizens, residents and visitors.
Saudi Arabia’s high safety ranking also highlights the country’s rapid development and the effectiveness of its proactive crime prevention policies, modern policing strategies and preventive security measures.
The Ministry of Interior has played a central role in enhancing public safety through a series of advanced initiatives, including the Unified Security Operations Center (911) and the Unified Crime Classification System, which have significantly strengthened emergency response capabilities and law enforcement coordination across the Kingdom.
The ministry has also integrated cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and automated security systems, to improve operational efficiency, accelerate incident response and enhance public safety services.
These technological advancements, combined with continuous public awareness campaigns and a strong security presence throughout cities, airports, seaports and the Kingdom’s extensive land and maritime borders, have further reinforced public confidence and contributed to maintaining one of the world’s safest environments.
